Mama Goddess

I met Goddess Adeyela a few weeks ago when she and her daughter came to Thursday night’s Hollywood Laughter Yoga Circle.

What a great laugher!!!  And what wonderful energy.  Bubbly and so full of love!!! Both her and the more reserved Goddess in Real Life Moremi.

Mama Goddess Adeyela is the Mother of four Goddesses in Real Life, the two youngest being twins or Iyabeji _ as the Yoruba people of Nigeria refer to these revered Goddesses in Training.

Besides being a full time Mom, she is also a first grade teacher and a puberty rites-of-passage facilitator and a talented writer.  To me, these three things are sacred gifts that a woman and Goddess can offer.  Teaching is already a huge blessing.   To also facilitate a Rites of Passage for Goddesses In Real Life as they enter womanhood – that is a beautiful thing.  And then to share the wisdom and experience and knowledge and expertise by writing about.  Tis a beautiful thing.

Goddess Adeyela shared with me her blog which is full of facts, wisdom and perspective.  I am looking forward to laughing more with this wise Mama Goddess and learning more from her as I start building my own village as I prepare in my journey for conscious pregnancy.

And thank you Goddess Mama for reMINDing me of the wise words of the writer and prophet Kahlil Gibrahn.  I look forward to hearing the musical version of Sweet Honey in the Rock:

ON CHILDREN (an excerpt from Khalil Gibran)

Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts.

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you

For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

Goddess of Music

We have been blessed to have Goddess Linda at our Thursday night Hollywood Laughter Yoga Circle.

She too is a great laugher and is always prepared to share her smile, good mojo and energy.

She was kind enough to bring a video camera and tape our session on Thursday, July 3, 2008. And what a great Laughter Yoga session it was. We were a smaller circle due to the New Moon. Yet, we laughed and breathed and hugged and sang. And Goddess Linda recorded it all.

It’s being edited and fixed up and soon will be shared on the website for all to enjoy.

In the meantime, Goddess Linda is the President at Audacity Recording where among other things, music and sound is created for TV and movies.  Audacity is offering classes for those who are learning any and all levels of Midi composition and recording and specialty classes for recording techniques and pro tools mixing for film and video.   A nice way to explore a new medium prior to making a major commitment.  Check out their scheduled offerings for more information.

Goddess Dancing Flower by the Water

Goddess Connie is a member of our Tuesday morning Hollywood Laughter Yoga Circle.  When I first met her, I felt such an exuberance and happiness for life. Her eyes sparkle and her smile goes wide from side to side.  I was so glad she kept on coming back for more.  Tee hee!!!  After a few sessions, she brought her husband, WSM Christopher, to join.

Goddess Connie is a wise and ancient soul with a keen eye for nature and very knowledgeable of all the souls in TY Park.  She also has a great laugh and her face reddens and her eyes twinkle and you just can’t help laughing when she starts to laugh

She sent me this A picture and kind words.  With her permission, I share her eloquent words:

YES!!!

“Hello, Goddess Diana !

What a wonderful laughter this morning, and soooo needed !

I have been meaning to send you this photo.  During a visit to my very best friend ,who lives in Albuquerque, we took a trip up into the mountains and visited the Sancturio de Chimayo, a very special chapel in the little village of Chimayo.  On the way out of the town , the road ended at this sign and the highway went either right or left.  My friend, Nikki, and I just burst out laughing, as we had just had a beautiful spiritual experience during our visit .

A local was selling chili powders..mild, med., and hot.  He did this little game with pistachio shells and would scoop up teensy tastes of the chili powders with the shells and let us sample each of them, followed by eating the pistachio nut !!!  Not only was he a magician with the hands and shells and scooping of the powders, he also kept telling us of his life’s travels, astounding tales filled with humor and strangeness and truth !  We were mesmerized, and each of us bought 3 bags of the chili powders. We were suspended in time, fully intent on sharing this man’s story of his life, completely non-judgemental and loving every moment of just being !

The Chapel was also fascinating;around the time of Lent, and Easter, people carry crosses on their backs, sometimes for hundreds of miles to journey to this place of healing. It is rich in history.

Well, it was a magical, heart filling day, and then this sign just said it all !!!

You and WSM Noah free so many spirits, and that is why I think of you when I look at this picture !

Love, Peace, and many giggles !

Dancing Flower by the Water, Goddess Connie”

Thank you my Dancing Flower by the Water Goddess!!!  Keep on dancing.  The World needs your wisdom and light and love.  And thanks for making my day with your vision and words.

Goddess of Comedy

Last week, a new member joined the Hollywood Laughter Yoga Circle.

Goddess Pam showed up with a lot of enthusiasm and raring to go. And we are so happy to welcome her into our community. She is also a talented comedienne who performs standup comedy.  And while Laughter Yoga advocates laughing for no reason, we love to laugh from the right side of our brains as well.

Well – for me, a Goddess who has the guts to get on stage and share, especially comedy – is a bold and brave Goddess.  And Goddess knows we need many more of this archetype.   Reminds me of that excellent movie called Punchline with Sally Fields, the housewife turned comedienne. And Goddess Pam reminds me of Sally Fields in her soft approach that I checked out at www.myspace.com/pambruno_comedy

She will be performing live this weekend – Saturday, July 12th at Brownie’s Historic Tavern in Ft. Lauderdale. She advises that admission is FREE with a 2 drink minimum. Please see flyer below for more details.
